Not a comment on this post, but a big "salut" to M. Foucachon who sacrificed his well-being, health, etc. to give a verisimilitudinous air to his website by shooting Frienship Square in last night's snowy dusk.
Sorry, "Friendship Square."
I sent an email to Dale Courtney that I named "of GRRR and BRRR" :)
Those shots didn't come that easy. Here's the email:
"forgot to tell the little story that goes with the pics. I got down there the first time, [about 10:00] set up my tripod, framed the shot, then noticed that the screen was displaying "no memory card"!! GRRRR and BRRRR (cold)!. I had forgotten my card in my card reader at home!! so it was only the second time down there [c. 10:30]that I actualy was able to get the shot :) But a good picture is always worth it :)"
I took some others too, here are some:

These are great photos, Daniel!
Kudos on your dedication to your work.
I wonder if these photos would be even better if they had been taken using a fast, sorta grainy black & white film (maybe Kodak T-Max 400) or better yet on standard ISO 100 film in a Graflex Speed Graphic press camera.
I'm sure they would be! I would love to take the kind of nightshot were you can just open the lense and let light seep in, like the city shots with the headlight streaks. My camera does have a night mode (which is what I used), but I don't have all that much control over the settings.
